It is nearly impossible to get enough magnesium in your diet from foods. According to the US Department of Health and Human Services, nearly all of us fail to achieve even the modest magnesium RDAs of 420 mg for adult males and 320 mg for adult females. Most American adults ingest about 270 mg of magnesium a day, well below the RDA and enough to generate a substantial cumulative deficiency over months and years. And magnesium is essential to almost all cellular functions. Magnesium is found in every single cell in the body, with the highest concentrations in the bones and teeth, followed by the brain, heart and blood. It is involved in 300 separate biochemical reactions necessary for your body to function properly.
Magnesium also plays a key role in maintaining the electrolyte balance of cells, which means it critically affects nerve signals, muscle contractions and heartbeat.
Magnesium dissolved in water (ionized) is considerably more bioavailable than is magnesium in solid tablets or capsules. About 50% of the magnesium contained in magnesium/bicarbonate water is absorbed. This is 12 times better than the absorption rate for magnesium oxide. So drinking 1 liter of magnesium/bicarbonate water per day would correspond to taking five 500 mg magnesium oxide tablets daily.
The magnesium bicarbonate recipe will help you make a form of magnesium that is easily absorbed. It is easy to create right in your kitchen.
To prepare the water follow these steps:
1. Chill a 1-liter bottle of unflavored fully carbonated water.
2. Shake the bottle of Milk of Magnesia well, then measure out 3 tablespoons (45 ml) and have it ready.
3. Remove the bottle of carbonated water from the refrigerator. Open it slowly and carefully to minimize the loss of CO2. As soon as the initial fizzing settles down, slowly add the pre-measured MoM. Promptly replace the cap on the water bottle and shake it vigorously for 30 seconds or so, making the liquid cloudy.
After ½ hour or so the liquid will have cleared, and any un-dissolved magnesium hydroxide will have settled to the bottom of the bottle. Again shake the bottle vigorously for 30 seconds or so, making the liquid cloudy again. When the liquid again clears all of the magnesium hydroxide in the MoM should have reacted with all of the CO2 to become dissolved (ionized) magnesium and bicarbonate.
According to the RDA…
“Women need between 310 to 320 mg of magnesium daily.
Men need between 400 to 420 mg of magnesium daily.”
If you eat a lot of vegetables, you may be getting up to 200 mg of magnesium. Especially chocolate, mushrooms, almonds, hazelnuts, spinach and Lima beans.
If your a woman, based on these numbers, about three 8 ounce glasses will complete your needs (3 x 32mg = 98 mg magnesium + 200 mg from diet).
If you are a man, you may benefit from about 5 to 7 glasses (based on your body weight) with about 8 ounces each of magnesium water. Likewise, it is possible to drink 2 16 ounce bottles a day of the magnesium water.
Each ounce has about 3.8 mg of magnesium.
To quote Sircus:
“It was actually the dedicated work of Dr Russell Beckett, a veterinarian with a PhD in biochemical pathology that paved the way to understand the significance of bicarbonate acting in conjunction with magnesium. He has formulated “Unique Water” which, it has been asserted, slowed the aging process and increased the length of life of humans and other mammals and could be used to treat all inflammatory and degenerative diseases. Unique Water is water containing magnesium bicarbonate at an alkaline pH value. Dr. Beckett’s theoretical and experimental research has resulted in the understanding how important both of bicarbonate and magnesium ions are in human physiology and how they work together to optimize human health and the ability to recover from disease.
Bicarbonate ions working alongside magnesium would naturally create the conditions for increased glucose transport across cell plasma membranes. Bicarbonate ions without doubt create the alkaline conditions for maintaining the enzyme activity of pancreatic secretions in the intestines. Bicarbonate neutralize acid conditions required for inflammatory reactions hence sodium bicarbonate would be of benefit in the treatment of a range of chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases…”
