Do you have a thyroid problem? The fact of the matter is that many, many people suffer from this issue every single year, and yet a lot of them actually have no idea that there is an issue at all. The stats suggest that there are around 59 million people in America alone who have this problem. What that means is that you may have a serious issue with your thyroid (a gland in your neck) without even knowing it. How crazy is that? That’s right, it’s insane! Well, if you notice any of the following signs, it might be time to head to the doctors.
ALWAYS FEELING COLD
Do you feel cold when other people don’t? If you are always chilly no matter what the weather is, there could be a deeper reason for that! Your thyroid is responsible for regulating your temperature using hormones and when something’s not right, you might feel the odd chill.
Like we already mentioned, your thyroid tends to regulate your hormones. As you already know, hormones control your menstrual cycle. When something goes wrong with your thyroid, it could easily affect the way your hormones work. That means that your period could come early or late each month.
Many people don’t actually realize that there is a link between their physical health and their mental health. If there is something wrong with you physically, it can often have a rather dramatic effect on your mentality. Depression may actually be a sign that there is something wrong with your thyroid.
Do you forget things from time to time? I know that I do. When things get really bad and you can’t remember stuff in the short-term, though, there may be an underlying reason for that. Thyroid dysfunction often leads to muddled thoughts and a loss of memory!
IRREGULAR BOWEL MOVEMENTS
Your body’s metabolism is actually controlled by your thyroid to some extent. That means that your bowel movements will change a whole lot when you have a problem. You might find that you suffer from constipation or even diarrhea.
SWEATING (ALL THE TIME!)
Can you imagine how it feels to sweat all the time? If the answer is yes, it might mean that you have a slight problem with your thyroid. When it comes down to it, you need to make sure that you check these things out!
TOO MUCH ENERGY
Some people are just naturally hyper… and then there’s the rest of us. If you happen to have a little extra energy all the time, it could be that your thyroids are to blame. Since your metabolism will likely be skewed, you could find that your body turns too much of your food into pure energy!
Your thyroid actually affects your nervous system. When it gets overstimulated, it can lead to you having a serious problem with your sleep. If you lie awake, full of nervous energy, you could find that this is the cause.
Does your weight go up and down all the time? Most people do have that problem, but for some, it’s worse than others. As we already know, your thyroid can affect your metabolism. That means that you could suffer from some pretty serious weight issues.
